Harvest
Coffee cherries are harvested when they are ripe and at their peak flavor. Ripe cherries are typically red or dark purple in color.
Processing
After harvesting, the coffee cherries undergo processing to remove the outer skin and pulp, revealing the coffee beans inside. This can be done using either the dry or wet method, depending on the region and preferences of the coffee producer.
Drying
The coffee beans are then dried to reduce their moisture content and prepare them for roasting. This can be done by sun-drying the beans on raised beds or patios, or using mechanical dryers.
Roasting
Once dried, the coffee beans are roasted to develop their flavors. Roasting is an art form, with different roasting profiles yielding different flavor profiles, ranging from light to dark roast.
Grinding
After roasting, the coffee beans are ground into the desired consistency for brewing. The grind size can vary depending on the brewing method used, such as espresso, drip, or French press.
Brewing
Finally, the ground coffee is brewed with hot water to extract its flavors and aromas, resulting in the delicious beverage enjoyed by millions worldwide.
